Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals in Belfast are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities during the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle in Belfast requires:
- To rent a vehicle in Belfast, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for those under 25. A valid, full driving licence suitable for the chosen vehicle is required, along with valid identification and proof of current address. Payment information and a security deposit are also necessary. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Belfast office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
4. Picking Up and Dropping Off
- At the time of collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed for your records. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same state as when you received it, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as noted at collection; refueling fees will be applied if the tank is less full. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please notify us in advance if you expect to return the vehicle later than scheduled. You will be responsible for any parking tickets, traffic infractions, or other charges incurred during your rental, plus an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial exposure. Reviewing these options is advisable. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the specified insurance excess, unless you opt for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of your insurance status.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, or off-roading is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is unacceptable. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. The vehicle must be used as intended, and passengers or weight must not exceed specified limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by Northern Irish law, Car Hire Belfast is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Belfast Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by Northern Irish law. Any disputes will be addressed in the exclusive jurisdiction of Northern Irish courts.
10. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
